From Self-Hate to Self-Respect: Building a Sustainable Lifestyle

A personal story of growing up with bullying, loneliness, and a difficult relationship with food and body image — and trying to change through extreme diets, strict rules, and self-control.

Key points:
  • Growing up with low self-esteem, loneliness, and bullying
  • Food as comfort and coping mechanism
  • Extreme dieting and control-based approaches
  • The cycle of restriction, overeating, and guilt
  • The shift toward sustainability and self-respect
  • Building healthy habits that last
In this talk, Anya will share how she moved from self-criticism and extremes to self-respect, balance, and long-term habits that work in real life.
From a young age, I struggled with self-esteem and used food as comfort. Over time, this led to cycles of dieting, weight loss, and regain.
I followed rules, but I wasn’t building a sustainable lifestyle.
